Two new producers: Jean-Yves Péron, Les Clos Perdus

Bon Vivant is pleased to welcome two new producers to our small stable. They are Jean-Yves Péron of Savoie, and Les Clos Perdus in Corbières.

Péron caveJean-Yves we visited in the summer of ’13. The vineyards were all tucked away peacefully and dramatically high on the slopes above Albertville. The wines are equally dramatic. Long maceration and barrel ageing has wrought wines of uncharacteristic complexity for alpine wines. There is no SO2 added to any of his wines. Our initial offerings are ‘Le Pas d’Ours’ (mondeuse), ‘Les Oeillets’ (jacquère), and ‘Les Barrieux’ (roussane, jacquère), an orange wine.

Having now tasted the wines, our faith has been duly rewarded. Truly beautiful wines. We began with ‘Cuvée 101′ Corbières rouge, ‘Le Rosé’ – pure mourvèdre – and a Côtes Catalanes blanc, ‘L’Année’, which is all macabeo. Our initial feeling is that this list will grow in the near future…
